CHICAGO – The Illinois State women's tennis team competed in its second match in as many days, as the Redbirds traveled to Chicago to take on DePaul on Sunday afternoon. In a result very reminiscent from Saturday's match, ISU was edged out by the Blue Demons and dropped a 4-3 decision at the XS Tennis Village.
DePaul took the early advantage by winning the double point, thanks to victories at the No. 3 and No. 2 spots respectively.
As the action moved to singles, the Blue Demons took a 2-0 lead after a win at the No. 6 spot. However, the Redbirds would trim the deficit to 2-1 after Lana Caculovic rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Sasha Stula at the No. 2 spot. DePaul would then clinch the match with wins at No. 4 and No. 5, before wins by Nevena Kolarevic at the No. 3 spot and by Tijana Zlatanovic at the No. 1 spot would bring the score to its final at 4-3.
The Redbirds are back in action on Friday, February 23, when they travel to Edwardsville, Illinois, for a 2 p.m. match against the SIUE Cougars.
