FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Redbirds began the Razorback Invitational with a 7-0 loss to the host team, No.14 Arkansas (9-2). The 'Birds scattered five hits throughout the game, including two extra-base hits.
Delainey Bryant led the offense for the 'Birds going 2-for-3 with a double and a single. Adisyn Hopkins was 1-for-1 with a pinch- hit double in the top of the seventh. Hannah Meshnick pitched 3.1 innings in relief, while only surrendering one hit, with no earned runs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Razorbacks came out swinging, scoring four runs in the first inning. In the top of the second, the 'Birds earned their first hit of the day on a single through the left side from Jayden Standish. The Redbirds put two on in the inning, with a walk from Ella Boye and the single from Standish, yet the Razorbacks were able to work out of the threat. Paige Mcleod, worked out of the bottom of the second with three straight ground outs.
In the top of the third, Delainey Bryant singled through the right side, but the 'Birds left one on base. The Razorbacks tacked on three more in the bottom of the inning, on three hits, which prompted a pitching change for the 'Birds, bringing Hannah Meshnick to the mound. Meshnick finished the final 3.1 innings of the game, giving up only one hit and no runs.
The 'Birds battled in the top of the seventh, beginning with a walk from Addison Masching, and then a double down the left-field line from Adisyn Hopkins, but unfortunately could not move a runner across.

The Redbirds are back at it again tomorrow, Friday, Feb 22 at 10:00 a.m. CT against UT Arington with another game to follow at 12:30 p.m. CT, against Wichita State University.
