FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Redbirds picked up victory number two of the season with a 6-4 win over UT Arlington, but fell in the second game of the day to nationally ranked, Arkansas.
On the mound, Paige McLeod earned her first collegiate victory. On offense, Jayden Standish batted .500 with two hits, including a double, and three RBIs. The Redbirds spread the wealth as six players earned hits in the game. Hannah Meshnick went the distance in game two, taking the loss, a perfect game, with six hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UTA got on the board in the bottom of the first inning, with one run coming on two hits. In the second, it was zeros across the board for both sides, but the Redbird bats exploded in the top of the third. Julia Larson started things off with a bunt single, before Delainey Bryant smashed a double to center for the RBI. Abby Knight got aboard with a walk, and scored, along with Byant, on a two RBI double from Jayden Standish.
In the bottom of the fourth, UTA tied the game up on one hit, with two Redbird errors. In the top of the fifth, it was Standish again who drove in the winning run with a single up the middle to score Knight who walked the at-bat before. Addison Masching put the ball in play to short and with an error on the Mavericks, Payton Brown scored on the play. In the bottom of the fifth, Hannah Meshnick came in relief of Paige McLeod, and shut down the Mavericks for the final three innings to earn the save.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Redbirds were unable to overcome an early deficit by the Razorbacks. In the bottom of the first, Arkansas scored four runs on two hits and one error. They continued to score in the second and third, adding one run on a solo shot to center, and two runs on two hits and one error, respectively. Paige McLeod came in relief in the fifth, but unfortunately the Redbird bats were unable to come alive.
ON DECK
The Redbirds will close out the Razorback Invitational with a single game against Wichita State on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 10:00 a.m. CT.
