FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Redbirds closed out the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. with a 8-1 loss to the Wichita State Shockers. The Redbirds finished 2-3 on the weekend, picking up their first two victories of the season.
Addison Masching and Kaili Chval earned the only Redbird hits on the day, going 1-for-2 and 1-for-3, respectively. Masching's single pushed across the lone Redbird run.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Shockers got on board in the first inning coming on a two-run homer to straight-away center. In the second inning, Wichita State added one more on a solo shot to left, then tacked on three in the bottom of the third on one hit and one error. In the bottom of the third, Paige McLeod came in relief of Hannah Meshnick, and worked a pop-up to get out of the inning.
In the top of the fifth, the 'Birds got something going, working walks to load the bases, before Addison Masching came up with the RBI single that not only got the Redbirds on the board, but broke up the no-hitter. Wichita State responded the bottom of the sixth, getting two runs on two hits. Masching came up huge in the sixth inning saving the walk-off run from crossing the plate by throwing her out at home.

The Redbirds will head on an in-state trip to the SIUE Cougar Invite for a five game series against St. Thomas, Loyola Chicago, Creighton, and the host team, SIUE
