NORMAL, Ill. – For the second week in a row, Illinois State senior gymnast Angelica Labat has been voted the Midwest Independent Conference Gymnast of the Week following her strong performance in a home dual against Southeast Missouri State.
Labat earned a win in the all-around for the second-straight meet, after setting a season-high score in ISU's home victory last Wednesday against SEMO. The Chesapeake, Virginia, native posted top 5 finishes on all four events, highlighted by a career-high score of 9.900 on beam for an event win. Her consistency led to a season high total of 39.325 to win the all-around competition against the Redhawks. Labat also tied for second on bars and tied for fifth place on vault and floor to round out her night.
Labat and the Redbirds return to action on Sunday against another MIC foe in Lindenwood, with the meet set to begin at Noon CT in St. Charles, Missouri.
