MARTIN, Tenn. – Senior Cameron Mabee threw 5.2 scoreless innings as Illinois State picked up a 4-1 victory over UT Martin on Friday at Skyhawk Baseball Field.
Mabee recorded his fifth start of 2024, throwing a season-long outing of 7.0 innings with four strikeouts while allowing a run. Junior Joe Husak would get the save, throwing 2.0 innings with two strikeouts and one hit allowed.
Offensively, the Redbirds (7-8 overall) got a pair of hits by junior Tyler Herron while sophomore Daniel Pacella contributed a pair of RBIs to move his season total to 19.
UT Martin drops to 5-13.
SCORING BREAKDOWN
Illinois State got on the board first in the top of the 1st with an RBI single from Judah Morris right back up the middle to plate Shaydon Kubo.
Pacella delivered with two outs and two on in the 5th inning, as he hit a ball deep to centerfield to clear the bases and make it 3-0 ILS.
The Skyhawks would score in the bottom of the 6th off an RBI double to make it 3-1.
The top of the 7th inning saw Herron respond for the Redbirds, as the catcher drove in Kubo with an RBI single to left field for a 4-1 ILS lead.
