Chadwick Shines in Illinois State's 5-0 Win Over Arkansas-Pine Bluff

PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Sophomore Tyrelle Chadwick went a complete nine innings as Illinois State picked up its second straight win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 5-0, on Saturday at the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex.

Chadwick recorded his second win of the season, striking out a career high 12 Golden Lions (6-4 overall), on his way to the first nine-inning complete game by a Redbird pitcher since May 2021 (Sean Sinisko vs Missouri State).

The 12 strikeouts by Chadwick are the most by a Redbird pitcher since Elijah Dale finished with 11 last May. The last Redbird pitcher with at least 12 punchouts in a game was Derek Salata last February at Arkansas State.

The Redbirds (4-5 overall) finished with eight hits on the afternoon, including two hits from sophomore Daniel Pacella and three RBIs from junior Noah Rabin.

Scoring Breakdown:

• The Redbirds got on the board first in the first inning with a three-run homerun from Rabin
• In the 5th inning, it was sophomore Shai Robinson plating the fourth Redbird run with an RBI single, scoring Greg Nichols in the process.
• A sacrifice fly by Shaydon Kubo in the 8th inning would increase the Redbird lead to 5-0

• Tyrelle Chadwick:
  • had the first nine-inning one-hitter for ILS since Chris Razo in April 2013
  • threw the first nine-inning complete game shutout since Brett Wicklund in 2019
  • had 12 strikeouts, a new career-high, surpassing his previous career high of 7 set last March at Central Arkansas
• Illinois State shuts out an opponent for the first time since last April at Bradley (9-0).
• JT Sokolove has reached base in all nine games this season for ILS
