Illinois State Beats Bradley, 12-3, to Close Series

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State baseball avoided the series sweep, defeating MVC rival Bradley by a final of 12-3 at Duffy Bass Field on Sunday.

Eight players had hits for Illinois State (11-11 overall, 1-2 MVC), led by senior Auggie Rasmussen and redshirt junior Judah Morris, who totaled three RBIs apiece.

Junior JT Sokolove and sophomore Daniel Pacella would be the other Redbirds on Sunday to finish with at least two hits.

Junior Tanner Perry got the Sunday start, going 7.0 innings against the Braves (8-14 overall, 2-1 MVC) with five strikeouts. Freshman Matthew Donnison impressed out of the Redbird pen once again, firing two scoreless innings in his seventh appearance of 2024.

Scoring Breakdown:

  • The Braves got on the board first with an RBI groundout in the 1st inning.
  • The Redbirds responded with an RBI flyout from Morris in the bottom of the 1st to knot the score at 1-1.
  • Bradley scored once in the 2nd and 3rd innings, respectively, to build an early 3-1 lead.
  • Illinois State would go on to score six runs in the bottom of the 3rd to grab the 7-3 lead, including an RBI triple from Rasmussen to make it 6-3.
  • Two more runs for ILS would score in the 6th inning to make the score 9-3 in favor of ILS.
  • The final three runs of Sunday came for the Redbirds in the 7th inning with an RBI double from Rasmussen before junior Noah Smith sent two home with an RBI double of his own.

  • First home win for ILS over Bradley since 4/23/22
  • Illinois State left three runners on base while Bradley left six
