EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Illinois State baseball team dropped a heartbreaking 6-5 walk-off decision at Charles A. Braun Stadium on Saturday afternoon night as Evansville scored two runs in the second, eighth, and ninth innings.
Illinois State (18-14 overall, 7-4 MVC) was led by two hits from both senior Shaydon Kubo and redshirt junior Judah Morris, as Morris led the way with two RBIs.
Evansville improves to 17-17 overall and 6-5 in the MVC.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Morris got the 'Birds on the board in the top of the 2nd with his fifth home run of the season, this time out to left field.
The Aces responded with two runs in the bottom of the 2nd off a sac fly and an RBI double to retake the lead, 2-1.
The 'Birds would get even in the top of the 4th off the bat of Kubo, as the senior notched a solo home run to knot the score at 2-2.
Illinois State would pull ahead in the top of the 5th off an RBI double by senior Greg Nichols to plate freshman Luke Stulga, making the score 3-2.
Morris would plate another run for Illinois State in the top of the 8th, making it 4-2.
Evansville would tie the game in the bottom of the 8th with a two-RBI single, tying the score at 4-4.
In the top of the 9th, junior JT Sokolove placed one right down the left field line to plate Stulga and give ILS a late 5-4 lead.
However, the Aces would not go away as they responded to score two more in the 9th to walk-off the 'Birds.

- Sophomore Tyrelle Chadwick finished with a line of 7.1 IP, three Ks, and four runs allowed
