TERRE HAUTE, Ind. –  The Redbirds dropped game one of the three-game series against Indiana State by a score of 2-1. The Redbirds move to 17-27 on the season, and 11-8 in Missouri Valley play.
Four different Redbirds had a hit on the afternoon, while Hannah Meshnick, tossed a season-high five strikeouts. Delainey Bryant earned her 28th consecutive game reaching base, which put her in the second spot for the longest active streak in the country, after a walk to begin the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The 'Birds got on the board first in the top of the second, scoring on an RBI sac-fly from Delainey Bryant. Bella Wilkerson led-off the top of the inning wearing a pitch, before Ella Boyer singled to put two runners aboard. A walk from Abby Horton loaded the bases for Bryant who was able to cash in the first run of the game. The lone run in the second would end up being the only run of the game for the Redbirds.
The Sycamores plated a run in each the fifth and sixth to take the lead. In the fifth, a single to left brought one run across the board, while in the sixth, a double to left plated the second.
The 'Birds scattered four hits on the afternoon, but were unable to make the comeback in game one of the series.
UP NEXT
The Redbirds will take on the Syacamores again tomorrow as game two is slated for Saturday, Apr. 20 at 1:00 p.m. CT. The series will close out on Sunday, Apr. 21 at 11:00 a.m. CT. The 'Birds will then head bacl on the road to UNI for their last road series of the conference play.
