NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The MVC Tennis Championship came down to the top two seeded teams in the league in Illinois State and Murray State, and it was the top-seeded Racers who got the best of the second-seeded Redbirds by a score of 4-1 on Sunday at the Belmont Tennis Complex.
Murray State took the early lead in the match, winning at the No. 3 and No. 1 doubles spots to secure the first point of the contest. However, the Redbirds bounced once the match moved into singles play as 2024 MVC Newcomer of the Year Lana Caculovic defeated Sarah Bureau by a score of 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 2 spot to even the match at 1-1.
Unfortunately for the Redbirds, the Racers would earn wins at the No. 4, No. 6 and No. 1 spots to clinch the match and the championship.
