EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Illinois State baseball team was topped, 17-6, by Evansville in the first game of day two of the 2024 MVC Tournament on Wednesday at Charles H. Braun Stadium.
The Redbirds (28-26 overall) will face the winner of Missouri State/Belmont on Thursday morning in an elimination game.
Junior Noah Rabin had three hits while senior Shaydon Kubo added three hits as well. The Redbirds generated 13 hits as a team.
Evansville (32-23 overall) moves on to face the winner of Murray State/UIC on Thursday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Judah Morris and Rabin sent out back-to-back home runs in the 1st inning to make but Evansville sent out a pair of solo shots to make it 3-2 after an inning.
The Redbirds padded the lead with three runs in the 3rd with a two-run home run from sophomore Daniel Pacella and a solo long ball from Rabin, his second of the morning.
Evansville responded with the game's final 15 runs as the Aces scored four in the 3rd , seven in the 4th , two in the 6th, and two in the 7th to put the game into run-rule territory, 17-6.

- Morris and Rabin hit back-to-back HRs for the first time since May 3
- Wednesday marks the fourth game with 4 home runs for the Redbirds (first since April 28)
- ILS is now 1-4 in their last five MVC Tournament games

Illinois State is scheduled to play Thursday at 9:00 AM as they will play the winner of Belmont/Missouri State. Thursday's game is on ESPN+.
