EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Illinois State baseball had its season end with a 17-7 loss to Evansville in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament semifinals on Saturday.
Junior JT Sokolove provided a key grand slam to put the 'Birds up, 6-1, in the 2nd inning. Evansville scored in four straight innings to take control.
The Redbirds finish 2024 at 30-27 overall while Evansville (34-23 overall) is scheduled to play #1-seed Indiana State Saturday night for a chance to claim the 2024 MVC Tournament Championship with a win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Evansville scored once in the 1st inning to open the game's scoring.
Illinois State recorded six hits in the 2nd inning, including Sokolove's grand slam, to put the 'Birds in front at 6-1.
UE scored seven in the 3rd, two in the 4th, five in the 5th, and two in the 6th to take firm control of the game.
