ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Following a stellar weekend in Florida, Illinois State volleyball freshman Khenedi Guest has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Guest was the X-factor for the Redbirds, as she led them to a 2-1 finish at the Owls Paradise Classic and was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts. She finished the weekend with 37 kills on a .500 clip.
Against Stetson, Guest earned a career high of 14 kills on 20 swings, hitting .550. Over the weekend, Guest recorded 11 total blocks and compiled 3.38 points per set for a total of 44 points.
Heading into this week, Guest is seventh in the Missouri Valley for hitting percentage (.289) and tied for 10th for blocks with 37, including nine block solos which is fourth in the MVC.
This is Guest's first MVC Freshman of the Week honor and first MVC weekly award for a Redbird since Mari Hinkle was named MVC Defensive Player of the Week in November 2023.
Guest and the Redbirds begin the 2024 MVC season on Friday when ISU takes on Murray State at 6 p.m. inside CEFCU Arena. Fans are encouraged to wear red for ISU's RED OUT.
