DES MOINES, IOWA – Illinois State Soccer (2–7–2, 0–2–1 MVC) couldn't overcome Drake (3–5–4, 2–1–0) Sunday in a 3–0 loss at Mediacom Stadium.
The two sides battled for most of the first half until Drake broke through in the 32nd minute and quickly struck again in the 34th minute. Ava Watson nearly put Illinois State on top first with a chance in the 24th minute as she split her defenders and earned a shot from 10 yards out, however Drake made the save. Eve Gricius and Abby Hall also put shots on frame Sunday for the Redbirds.
The Bulldogs broke through again in the 53rd minute to close out the win. Drake led shot count by an 11-7 (6-3 SOG) margin and held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
