ST. LOUIS, MO.-- Senior Eva Reyes was named Diver of the Week by the Missouri Valley Conference, as announced by the league office on Wednesday, after a strong performance last weekend when the Redbirds traveled to UNI.
She has been named Diver of the Week three times this season as she received the honor following meets against Ohio and Saint Louis.
Reyes recorded a lifetime best on day one at UNI claiming the 3-meter diving title with a score of 290.85. On day two, Reyes broke a Glen F. Henry Pool record by posting a score of 301.80.
She will travel to the UIC Diving Invite (Feb 8), before Reyes and the Redbirds compete in MVC Championships in Waukee, Iowa (Feb 26- Mar 1). Reyes will then head to the NCAA Zones Diving Championship, hosted by Ohio State University, from Mar 10-12.
During her time at Illinois State, Reyes earned MVC Diver of the Year honors both as a freshman and sophomore. A season ago, she was the second diver in program history and third diver in conference history to earn three-straight 1-meter titles.
In 2023-24, she was a two-time MVC Diver of the Week after stellar performances against Eastern Illinois on October 6 (claimed 1M and 3M titles) and Ohio on October 14 (swept 1M and 3M events).
The Tijuana, Mexico native, was named to the 2024 MVC Scholar Athlete Team and was a CSCAA Scholar All-American Team selection as a sophomore in 2023.
