JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Illinois State women's golf team opened the spring season in strong fashion, taking second in a strong field at the Sea Best Intercollegiate, as Jinyoung Yun placed third individually with a three-round 212.
The team's tournament score of 860 is the third-lowest score in program history, behind only the 849 set at the season-opening home tournament and last season's Clash at Boulder Creek. In all, this years' team has three of the four lowest tournament scores in program history.
Only 26th ranked Florida finished ahead of ISU with an 857. Coastal Carolina (867), South Alabama (871), and tournament host Jacksonville (873) rounded out the top five teams in the field, with Florida Gulf Coast (875), Stetson (884), Daytona State (891), Richmond (893), Florida Southern (899), Navy (899), Seminole State (909), USC Upstate (914), Lipscomb (941), and Holy Cross (976) round out the 15 schools in the tournament field.
Yun's 212 is tied for the eighth-lowest tournament score in school history, and the 69 from each of her last two rounds are tied for the 10th-lowest single-round scores in school history. She finished third overall with rounds of 74, 69, and 69 for her top-five finish.
Freshman Jessica Jolly had a three-round 215, is tied for the 12th-lowest tournament score in school history and tied for the third-lowest by a freshman. Jolly's rounds of 71, 69, and 75 put her in ninth place overall in the tournament.
Lory Paradis tied for 13th overall with a three-round score of 217, using rounds of 72, 72, and 73 is tied for the 23rd-lowest tournament score in program history and tied for her career-low. Elise Fennell's 218 (76-69-73) saw her tie for 19th individually and is tied for the 32nd-lowest individual tournament score in school history. Morgan Jones finished the tournament with rounds of 74, 73, 75 for a 222 which tied for 26th.
The squad heads back to Florida for the 2025 Columbia Classic, hosted on February 8-9 in Melbourne, Florida.
