NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State track & field program will head to Columbia, Mo. for the Dr. Rick McGuire Invitational hosted by the University of Missouri on Friday and Saturday. Action will begin on Friday at 10:30 a.m.
Illinois State will make its first road trip to Missouri for the first time since May 25-26, 2007, where the Redbirds competed in the 2007 NCAA Mideast Regional Meet.
The Redbirds make the trip to the Show-Me State following a strong performance in Iowa City at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational. In Iowa, Illinois State claimed five event wins and six entries into the program's top-10 list.
Senior Lindsey Miller improved on her time in the 60m dash with a time of 7.35 in the Hawkeye State. Miller remains third all-time on the program's top-10 list in the 60m dash.
Senior Mattison Plummer won the women's mile after running a time of 4:41.12. Plummer now sits second fastest in Illinois State history for the women's mile. Plummer has joined the top-10 list in the mile and 3000m this season.
Junior Erin Starks and Senior Corrina Courser entered the program's top-10 list for the 60m hurdles earlier this season at the Coughlan-Malloy Cup. But in Iowa, they improved upon their times with marks of 8.34 and 8.48.Â
Freshman Zach Paul, a native of Lee's Summit, Mo. also improved on his time with a mark of 6.76 in the 60m dash prelims to move to sixth on the program's top-10 list.
On Friday, Junior Jake Welch and Junior Star Mpama joined Illinois State's top-10 list in the 600m with times of 1:18.48 and 1:32.98.
