Women’s Golf Picked to Defend MVC Title

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Illinois State women's golf team, the 2024 Missouri Valley Conference Champion, has been picked to repeat as champions according to the 2025 preseason polls of the head coaches in the conference.

The Redbirds picked up 143 total poll votes and received 11 of the 12 first place votes in the poll. Missouri State (127), Bradley (114), Drake (98), and Belmont (95 and the other first-place vote) round out the top five predicted schools for the upcoming MVC Championship in April.

Through five events in the 2024-25 season, the Redbirds have four top-three finishes overall, including most recently a runner-up finish at the Sea Best Intercollegiate, falling by three strokes to 26th-ranked Florida. ISU has six golfers averaging under 76 strokes per round.

Individually the team is led by defending MVC Golfer of the Year Jinyoung Yun who is averaging 71.7 strokes per round, nearly a stroke better than her total last season which set a MVC record for lowest stroke average in a season.

ISU is next in action on Saturday, February 8 in the first day of the two-day 2025 Columbia Classic hosted in Melbourne, Florida.
