NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State soccer returns to action with a matchup against Evansville Sunday afternoon at Adelaide Street Field. Kick off is set for 1 p.m. and will be available to watch on ESPN+.
Sunday's meeting with the Aces marks the 36th meeting between the two programs. Illinois State holds a 21-9-5 advantage in the all-time series, including an 11-2-4 record at Adelaide Street field. In the last 10 games, the Redbirds have won seven contests and are unbeaten in nine.
The Redbirds enter Sunday's contest after extending their unbeaten streak to five games with their 2-0 win over Southern Illinois last Sunday. During the unbeaten streak, Illinois State has recorded four shutouts, which are each the most under head coach Raleigh DeRose. The five-game unbeaten streak is the longest streak for the Redbirds since 2019.
In its first three games to open Missouri Valley Conference play, the Redbirds have gone unbeaten, which is the longest streak to open the conference season since 2019. With the shutout, the Redbirds grabbed their second shutout win in the first three games of conference play for the first time since the 2020-21 season.
On Tuesday, Redshirt Sophomore Madi Valenti was named the MVC Goalkeeper of the Week for her performances against Valparaiso and Southern Illinois last week. Valenti's nomination marked the second consecutive week she has been honored by the conference and became the first Redbird to accomplish the feat since Kate Del Fava in 2019.
Evansville travels to Normal after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Indiana State last Sunday. The Aces are led by Chris Pfau, who began his second stint as head coach of Evansville in 2019 after previously serving in the role from 2005-07.
