NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State soccer extended its unbeaten streak to six straight games with a 0-0 draw against Evansville, Sunday afternoon at Adelaide Street Field.
The Redbirds outpaced the Aces with a 5-2 shot advantage in the first frame of the contest. In the last 10 minutes before the break, Sophomores Eve Gricius and Rylie Monohan each drew a save from the Evansville keeper; however, the contest remained level at 0-0 entering the break, despite the Illinois State advantage in chances created.
In the opening moments of the second half, the Redbirds would find their best chance of the day, with a corner kick. Sophomore Kaya Durkee delivered a ball to Freshman Grace Petrie, and would have had her shot deflect off the woodwork. Senior Abby Hall followed through on the rebound, but she would also have her effort bounce off the crossbar.
Despite pressure from Illinois State in the second half as the Redbirds outshot the Aces, 8-3, the game would end level at 0-0.
The Redbirds remain unbeaten in their last six contests, which is the longest streak under head coach Raleigh DeRose and the most since 2019. Illinois State remains undefeated in its first four conference games, the longest streak to begin conference play since 2019.
Illinois State recorded its eighth shutout of the season, the most for the Redbirds since 2019 and the most under DeRose. Redshirt Sophomore Madi Valenti added her 12th career shutout and now sits just one shutout shy of Sasha Reiber (2008-09) for fifth all-time in program history.
In the last three contests, Illinois State has surpassed double digits in shots, which matches a season-best streak.
