NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State swim and dive wrapped up day two of the Miami Invitational, Thursday afternoon from the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center.
Senior Ella Turken earned a top-10 finish in 50 Y Free Finals with a time of 23.25. Turken's mark was a personal best and sits fourth on the program's top-10 list.
Illinois State's 400 Y Medley Relay team of Tyler, Ostendor, Snow, and Turken earned the eighth fastest time in program history with a mark of 3:46.07.
The Redbirds' 200 Y Free Relay Finals squad of Snow, Kieffel, Tyler, and Turken recorded the fourth fastest time in program history with a time of 1:32.70.
Action from Oxford kicked off on Wednesday with the 800 Y Free Relay Finals as the lone event on the day. The Redbirds squad of Gott, Westphal, Basco, and Murphy earned a sixth-place finish with a season-best time of 7:35.95.
Illinois State opened day two with a pair of season-best marks in the 500 Y Free prelim from Sophomore Amelia Murphy and Senior Maya Burkstrand. Murphy recorded a mark of 5:07.61 as Burkstrand earned a time of 5:13.79.
Senior Giulia Basco was one of four Redbirds to record a season-best in the 200 Y IM prelim for Illinois State. Basco, the highest finisher, recorded a time of 2:07.60. Boulden (2:10.04), Watson (2:11.87), and Gourley (2:13.24) joined Basco in earning season-best marks.
In the 50 Y Free prelims, Senior Mia Snow earned a 12th-place finish with her fastest mark of the season, with a time of 23.41. Snow was one of eight Illinois State swimmers to record their fastest time this season in the event.
From the diving boards, Sophomore Emma Thompson earned a fifth-place finish in the 3M Dive Finals with a score of 224.50
After day two, Illinois State sits in sixth-place with 191 points.
