Birds Blanked 7-0 at No. 66 Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.-- The Illinois State men's tennis team (4-9) dropped a road contest against No. 66 Purdue (8-1) of the Big Ten Conference by a score of 7-0 on Sunday inside Schwartz Tennis Center.

Illinois State was swept in both singles and doubles play in the non-conference matchup, this is the third match ISU has played against Big Ten Conference competition. The other two matches were against the Northwestern Wildcats (4-7) and Wisconsin Badgers (5-2).

Doubles:

No. 1- Aleksa Krivokapic/ JD Velasquez (PUR) def. Tomas Valencia/ Adrian Dibildox (ISU) 7-5

No. 2- Nour Fathalla/ Daniel Labrador (PUR) def. Tin Ostro/Caden Scarlett (ISU) 6-3

No. 3- Henrik Villanger/ Maj Premzi (PUR) def. Manuel Pavia/ Finn Logue (ISU) 6-2

Singles:

No. 1- Aleksa Krivokapic (PUR) def. Tomas Valencia (ISU) 6-3, 3-6, 4-2

No. 2- JD Velasquez (PUR) def. Adrian Dibildox (ISU) 6-0, 6-1

No. 3- Henrik Villanger (PUR) def. Tin Ostro (ISU) 6-4, 6-1

No. 4- Stefan Simeunovic (PUR) def. Christian Capacci (ISU) 7-5, 6-2

No. 5- Maj Premzl (PUR) def. Caden Scarlett (ISU) 6-2, 6-2

No. 6- Nour Fathalla (PUR) def. Jett Leong (ISU) 7-6, 6-3 

UP NEXT-

The Birds will travel to Phoenix, Arizona on February 28, with a match against nationally-ranked No. 62 Grand Canyon University at 11 a.m. Illinois State will return to action in Arizona facing off against Saint Mary's University (CA) on March 2. First serve will be at 11 a.m.
