MUNCIE, Ind. - The Illinois State baseball team, coming off a series at Jacksonville, is set for a quick turnaround, heading on the road to Ball State on Tuesday in the team's first midweek contest of the 2025 season.

ABOUT THE CARDINALS
Ball State (4-3) was split a four-game series at Sacramento State last weekend, taking Thursday's opener 4-3 and Saturday's finale 13-10. Head coach Rich Maloney, in his 19th season, upped his career wins total to 992 with the pair of triumphs.
The Ball State baseball team were picked to win the Mid-American Conference by the league's head coaches in the 2025 MAC preseason poll.
The Cardinals got six first place votes and 95 overall points in the vote, as Kent State (84 points) and Miami (82) finished second and third with each receiving a pair of first place votes for the regular season crown.
WE MEET AGAIN
Tuesday's meeting will mark the first time the Cardinals and Redbirds meet on the diamond since 2006 when Ball State secured a 9-3 neutral site win in Minneapolis, Minn.
The two programs will meet in Muncie for the first time in 22 years, as the Birds last made the trip to the Hoosier State in 2003 for a three-game series.
2025 SLATE
The 22 teams on the 2025 schedule for ISU averaged 27 wins last season and feature five NCAA regional qualifiers (Evansville, Illinois, Indiana State, Oral Roberts, and Oklahoma State).
Seven 2025 opponents finished last season in the top 100 in RPI (12. Indiana State; 16. Oklahoma State; 43. Illinois; 52. Evansville; 80. Murray State; 89. UIC; 100. Western Kentucky).
ILLINOIS STATE TO HOST MVC TOURNAMENT
The 2025 Missouri Valley Conference Championships will take place from Duffy Bass Field in Normal, Illinois.Â
The eight-team tournament opens on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, and is scheduled to run through Saturday, May 24, 2025.
This is the first time Illinois State will host the MVC Championships since 2019.Â
ON DECK FOR ISU
Following Tuesday, Illinois State will travel to Saint Charles, Missouri, for a three-game series at Lindenwood from Feb. 28 – March 2.
