SAINT CHARLES, Mo. – Illinois State (1-6) dropped the first game of the series to Lindenwood Friday afternoon. The Redbirds offense was led by Judah Morris, who went 3-for-4 with four RBIs.
Lindenwood moves to 5-5 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Redbirds got on the board early in the 1st with an RBI double down the left field line by Judah Morris to plate Kyle Gibson for the 1-0 lead.
The Lions would tie the score with a lead off home run in the 2nd to make it 1-1.
Then, in the 3rd, the Birds put together a slight two-out rally as Morris and Noah Smith both tallied RBI singles to push the advantage to 3-1.
In the bottom of the 3rd, Lindenwood's bat exploded for five runs, including a grand slam, to take a three-run lead at 6-3.
The margin would be trimmed by Morris, once more, in the 5th as the senior launched a no-doubt two-run home run to left field to make the score 6-5.
The Lions got some insurance in the 8th with an RBI double and RBI single to pad the lead to 8-5.
