BLOOMINGTON, Ill.-- The Illinois State women's tennis team (5-4) will take on the Eastern Illinois Panthers (2-9) of the Ohio Valley Conference on Sunday, Mar. 2 inside Evergreen Racquet Club.
The Redbirds and Panthers last met at the EIU Invite on October, 20, where the Birds came out on top as the No. 2 doubles pair of freshman Emma Lindh and Nicole Iosio bested Fay and Lomenzo of Eastern Illinois by a narrow 7-5 margin.
LAST TIME OUT
The Illinois State women's tennis team (5-4) cruised past Radford University (1-3) of the Big South Conference by a score of 4-1 on Saturday, February 22, inside Brian David Fox Tennis Center.
In doubles play, the Birds picked up wins from freshman Emma Lindh (Malmo, Sweden) and graduate student Elena Jankulovska (Skopje, Macedonia) at No. 2 by a score of 6-0. Junior Nuria Sanz (Valencia, Spain) and freshman Nicole Iosio (Cordenons, Italy) battled to a 6-2 win over Stephens and Murphy of Radford University.
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
EIU was blanked by Western Michigan on Feb. 23 in Kalmazoo, Michigan. The Panthers take on both Western Kentucky and Western Kentucky before they collide with the Birds on Mar. 2, In doubles play, EIU has been led by the No. 1 pair of Aleyla Wooten and Michelle Kostadinova.
UP NEXT
Illinois State will travel to Edwardsville to face SIUE for a 2:30 p.m. match on March 9 inside the SIUE Recreation Sports Complex.
The Birds will have a quick turnaround with a trip to California where they compete in a pair of matches on the West Coast against Utah State and UC-Irvine in Irvine, California.
