BLOOMINGTON, Ill. –  The Illinois State track & field program wrapped up day one of the Keck Select Invitational, on Friday evening at the Shirk Center.
Sophomore Ava Lawless won the women's pentathlon after recording 3353 points across the five events. Lawless tallied a personal best in three events including the high jump (1.57m), shot put (10.15m), and long jump (5.69m). Freshman Sydney Skarich finished runner-up with a point total of 3237.
In the men's heptathlon, Freshman Braeden Brown leads through four events with a total of 2802 points. Brown capped off the night by recording a personal best mark in the high jump with a jump of 1.98m (6-6).
