Birds Fly Past Chicago State, 7-0

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.-- Illinois State women's tennis (7-6) cruised past the Chicago State Cougars (0-5) and moved their all-time record to 10-0 since the year 2016. The Birds picked up the doubles point and swept singles competition for a 7-0 win inside Evergreen Racquet Club on Wednesday.

In doubles competition, The Birds No.1 pair of  junior Lana Caculovic (Dugo Selo, Croatia) and freshman Nicole Iosio (Cordenons, Italy) took a 6-1 victory. Freshman Emma Lindh (Malmo, Sweden) and Graduate student Elena Jankulovska (Skopje, Macedonia) blanked Mackenzie King and Nadjema Morille by a score of 6-0 at the No. 2 position.

As play shifted to singles play, Illinois State won four matches in straight-sets. At No.1, junior Lana Caculovic (Dugo Selo, Croatia) played to a  6-4, 6-1 decision over Chicago State's Mackenzie King. ISU had the No. 5 and 6 matches forfeited by Chicago State to take all six singles matches.

DOUBLES:

No 1- Lana Caculovic/ Nicole Iosio (ISU) def. Mackenzie King/ Nadjema Morille (CSU) 6-1

No 2- Emma Lindh/ Elena Jankulovska (ISU) def. Trinity Babcock/Karoline Riisnaes (CSU) 6-0

No 3- Nuria Sanz/ Zoe Limparis (ISU) vs CSU team (forfeited)

SINGLES:

No. 1- Lana Caculovic (ISU) def. Mackenzie King (CSU) 6-4, 6-1

No. 2- Emma Lindh (ISU) def. Nadjema Morille (CSU) 6-0, 6-0

No. 3- Elena Jankulovska (ISU) def. Trinity Babcock (CSU) 6-0, 6-0

No. 4- Nicole Iosio (ISU) vs Karoline Riisnaes  (CSU) 6-0, 6-0

No. 5- Sophie Marie Lowe (ISU) vs CSU team (forfeited)

No. 6- Zoe Limparis (ISU) vs CSU team (forfeited)

UP NEXT

The Birds will travel to Peoria to face the Bradley Braves this weekend, before returning to outdoor play for two consecutive matches on March 29 against UNI and March 30 when ISU hosts the Drake Bulldogs. Both matches will be played at the Gregory Street Tennis Courts.
