Redbirds Secure Sunday Series Win over Bruins, 14-2

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – In the series finale from E.S. Rose Park, Illinois State baseball secured the series with a 14-2 win, in seven innings, over Belmont on Sunday.

Illinois State (8-13 overall, 2-1 MVC) totaled 14 hits, including four home runs.

Belmont (9-16 overall, 1-2 MVC) recorded four hits.

  • Belmont got on the board with a sac fly in the bottom of the 1st
  • Brayden Bakes sent a solo shot off the left field videoboard in the top of the 2nd to even the score at 1-1
  • The Redbirds exploded for 11 runs in the 4th with a HR from Daniel Pacella, RBI double from Graham Mastros, back-to-back-to-back-to-back RBI singles from Josh Outlaw, Luke Stulga, Kyle Gibson, and Shai Robinson, a Belmont wild pitch, and a three-run HR by Bakes.
  • Belmont got a run back in the 4th with an RBI groundout
  • Illinois State saw Outlaw cross the plate in the 5th to make it a 10-run game again at 12-2.
