SPRINGFIELD, MO. – Illinois State women's basketball (19-11, 13-6 MVC) fell Thursday night 72-47 to Missouri State (23-7, 15-4 MVC) inside Great Southern Bank Arena.

Illinois State battled shooting woes, finishing 33.3% from the floor and 21.1% from deep. The Redbirds 47 points marked a season low. Shannon Dowell led Illinois State with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Elyce Knudsen was the only other Redbird in double figures, finishing with 13 points.

Illinois State traded blows with Missouri State in the first quarter, trailing 21-18 after Knudsen knocked down a bucket to bring the Redbirds within one possession. She scored eight points in the opening frame, including the final five points of the quarter for Illinois State.

Dowell scored to open the second and brought Illinois State within 21-20 in the early moments of the quarter. She went on to score six of Illinois State's first eight points in the second quarter, but Illinois State trailed 28-26 at the 6:05 mark. The Lady Bears scored 10 unanswered points heading into the halftime break to grab an eight-point cushion.

Freshman Doneelah Washington tallied her 30th block of the season, putting her alone for second in program history by a freshman. She becomes just the second freshman in program history to tally 30+ blocks, joining all-time Redbird rookie leader Leslie Ferrell (48, 1986-78).
