COLUMBUS, Ohio – With a steady rain throughout, increasing to a steady downpour at times, the Illinois State women's golf team battled the conditions, the course, and the 12 other schools in the tournament field on Tuesday afternoon, as the Redbirds kept their position heading into the final day of the tournament.
ISU will tee off starting at 7:55 a.m. (CT) on Wednesday morning along with Illinois and Oakland.
Second-ranked Arkansas leads the field through 36 holes with a score of 580, and is followed by 39th-ranked UNLV (581), #23 Kansas (582), #14 Ohio State (582), #35 SMU (592), #10 LSU (593), Kent State (593), #26 Houston (596), Xavier (599), and #47 Illinois (600), with the Redbirds (617) standing 11th and Oakland (634) in 12th.
Morgan Jones' 76 on the day was the low mark for the Redbirds, as she had a birdie and a dozen pars on her round, and behind a two-day 151, she is tied for 34th in the tournament.
Also tied for 34th after 36 holes, Lory Paradis carded a six-over 78 on the rain-logged day, as she had a birdie and 11 pars.
Jinyoung Yun had 10 pars for a second-round 80 and is tied for 47th with 18 holes to play on the day. ISU's pair of freshmen, Elise Fennell (84) and Jessica Jolly (85) are both tied for 62nd in the field after 36 holes.
