Three Redbirds Bring Home Singles Flight Championships From River Forest

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Having to work around some inclement weather to start the day that affected some doubles action, the River Forest Collegiate Tennis Invitational powered on during the afternoon Saturday and three Redbirds won championship matches in their singles flights to cap off the first tournament of the fall season.

In Draw No. 1, Tomas Valencia defeated Alessandro Hernandez (DU) 6-3, 6-0 to take home a title and in Draw No. 3, Christian Capacci took down Jeremy Sieben (WU) 2-6, 6-2, 10-7 to bring home an individual title. Tin Ostro rounded out the Redbird trio of champions, as he beat Luke Coppage (MU) 6-4, 6-2 in Draw No. 4 to take home the trophy.

Manuel Pavia (Draw No. 6) and Caden Scarlett (Draw No. 7) also picked up match wins as the duo each won third-place matches in their respective flights. Jett Leong was also a winner on the final day of action, as he defeated Adan Tarquino (DU) 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (7) to take fifth place in Draw No. 5. Rounding out the action, Adrian Dibildox finished in second place in Draw No. 2, after he dropped a 5-7, 6-4, 10-3 decision to Lucas Ho (WMU).

In doubles action, Valencia/Dibidox (ISU) picked up a win over A.Aleksychuk/E.Nokic (UIC) 6-3 for the lone doubles win on the day for the Redbirds.

ISU is back in action October 3-5, when it hosts the annual Redbird Invitational at the Gregory Street Courts in Normal.
