SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – Illinois State soccer drew 0-0 with Saint Louis to record its second straight draw on Sunday afternoon at Robert R. Herman Stadium.
The Redbirds picked up their third draw of the season and second in the all-time series with Saint Louis. Sunday's draw marks the first-ever back-to-back draw in program history with the result.
The first half of the contest was an even affair as neither squad found an advantage in the opening 45 minutes. The Billikens edged the Redbirds 5-4 in total shots in the first frame, as Redshirt Sophomore Madi Valenti tallied two saves to keep the contest level at 0-0 entering the break.
The story would remain the same in the second half, as neither team would be able to find a winning goal. The Redbirds would shut down any Saint Louis goal-scoring threat as Valenti would pick up three saves in the second half to keep the game leveled at 0-0.
Valenti tallied six total saves in the game, which marks the ninth time in her career with at least six or more saves. Valenti's six saves moved her to seventh in Redbirds history with 124 career saves.
Illinois State has conceded just one goal in its past six games, which is the fewest in a six-game stretch since 2003.
