Law Secures Brace As Redbirds Earn Third Straight Shutout Win Against IU-Indy, 2-0

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State soccer secured its third straight shutout with a 2-0 win over IU-Indy Thursday evening at Adelaide Street Field.

Freshman Rylann Law tallied a brace with goals in the 32nd and 63rd minutes of the contest to secure the win for the Redbirds. Law became the first freshman Redbird to tally a brace since Hannah Mueller on September 19, 2018, against Western Illinois. Law now leads the MVC for the most goals by a freshman this season.

Illinois State has also tallied at least 17 shots in the last three matches played, which is the longest streak under head coach Raleigh DeRose. The last time the Redbirds accomplished the feat was during the 2020-21 season.

The Redbirds applied pressure in the opening minutes leading up to Law's first goal as Illinois State outshot IU-Indy 4-1 in the first 30 minutes. After the Redbirds' opening goal, they would continue pressing but were unable to extend the 1-0 lead entering the halftime break.

Illinois State's attack would continue to find goal-scoring opportunities in the second half as the Redbirds outshot IU-Indy 11-4 but were unable to increase the lead following Law's second goal.

With the 2-0 win, the Redbirds earned their third straight shutout win, which is the longest streak since 2019, when Illinois State secured 5 consecutive shutout victories.
