Rob Dob’s Hosts Basketball Coaches Show Tonight

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State Basketball Coaches Show, presented by The O'Brien Auto Team, featuring Illinois State head men's basketball coach Ryan Pedon and women's basketball head coach Kristen Gillespie will air tonight live from Rob Dob's.

Fans are invited to watch Monday's show live at Rob Dob's, located at 801 N Hershey Road in Bloomington; however, for those unable to attend the show in person, it will be broadcast live on WJBC 1230 AM, the Varsity Network, and on the Illinois State Athletics Facebook page.

Head women's basketball coach Kristen Gillespie's segment of the show, hosted by Greg Halbleib, starts at 6 p.m. and Gillespie, whose team is 11-9 this season and 5-4 in the MVC, will be joined by ISU redshirt senior De'Shawnti Thomas. Illinois State women's basketball heads into the show following a road split on the week, falling at UIC 76-64 on Thursday, before coming back with an 85-69 win in Terre Haute against Indiana State on Sunday.

Thomas has played in 14 games for the Redbirds, coming off the bench in each. The Tulsa, Oklahoma, native has pulled down 19 rebounds on the season – 1.4 per game – and has three blocks, three steals, and a steal while scoring seven points, including going 2-for-2 from the free throw line against the Sycamores on Sunday. The Redbirds have a big home weekend ahead, with a rematch against the Northern Iowa Panthers on Thursday, January 29, before hosting Bradley on Sunday, February 1 in the program's annual Play4Kay game.

Head men's basketball coach Ryan Pedon's portion of the show follows at 6:45 p.m., hosted by John Fitzgerald and Mike Matthews. The Redbirds come into the show with a 14-7 record, and a 6-4 mark in MVC play. The Redbirds split a pair of games during the week, topping the Northern Iowa Panthers at home on Wednesday before falling at Belmont in a weather-altered game start.

Pedon will be joined this week by redshirt senior guard Landon Wolf. The Cedar Falls, Iowa, native scored 13 points during the week, making 4-of-8 shots from the field and 3-of-6 from long range, while pulling down 10 rebounds. This season he has played in all 21 games – coming off the bench in each – averaging 6.0 points and 4.6 rebounds, while also grabbing 20 steals and dishing out 15 assists. This week the Redbirds have just one game, on the road at Murray State on Wednesday night at 8 p.m.
