NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State baseball program fell 11-1 Friday evening in game one of the weekend clash with Indiana State at Duffy Bass Field. The Redbirds fall to 21-13 overall in 2026 and drop to 5-5 in Missouri Valley Conference play.
In the top of the first, the Sycamores tallied a trio of singles to open scoring in the contest. Moments later, Indiana State plated an additional two runs in the frame on a two-RBI double to make its advantage 3-0. With an RBI single later, the Sycamores rounded out the first inning with a 4-0 lead.
After back-to-back scoreless innings, Indiana State grew its advantage with a three-run home run to move its lead to 7-0 in the fourth. A frame later, the Redbirds captured their lone run in the contest following a single from Graduate Camden Karczewski and an RBI double from Senior Josh Outlaw to score Karczewski, moving the score to 7-1.
With back-to-back home runs in the eighth inning and a two-RBI double in the ninth, the Sycamores extended their advantage to 11-1 to secure the victory Friday evening.
