Named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference Team … Named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team for the third-straight year … Earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete recognition … In singles, playing predominately at the No. 2 spot, went 13-17 overall (second-most wins on the team), 5-13 in dual play and 8-4 in tournament play … In doubles, matched a team-high in victories with a 10-19 overall record, a 6-14 dual mark and a 4-5 tournament record … Earned a Missouri Valley Conference Team Tennis Championship first-round singles win over Stony Brook (April 28) to clinch the match victory for Illinois State.
2015-16/Junior at Illinois State
Earned a spot on the All-Missouri Valley Conference Team … Named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team for the second-straight year … Earned the most singles victories on the team, going 26-7 overall, 19-2 during the spring season and a team-best 2-1 in MVC play … Was ranked No. 53 nationally in doubles, with partner Christoffer Greve, according to the Feb. 10 ITA rankings … Teamed up solely with Greve in doubles play during the 2015-16 season to go 15-13 overall, 10-10 during the spring season and 1-2 in MVC play … Teamed up with Steffens to upset Wichita State’s No. 67 ranked doubles team of Miroslav Herzan and Haru Inoue (April 16) … At the 2016 MVC Team Championship, earned a 1-0 mark in singles while going 1-1 in No. 2 doubles with Greve … Versus UMBC, the duo helped Illinois State secure the doubles point by defeating Justin Carter and Alex Drean, 6-2 … Steffens then rolled past Kevin Hsieh in No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-0.
2014-15/Sophomore at Illinois State
Ended the dual season winning seven of his last nine singles matches … Ranked third on the team in dual singles victories, with eight … Finished second on the team with 13 wins overall … Was one of two Redbirds to finish above .500 in MVC play … Finished 12-11 overall in doubles play, pairing with three different team members … Went 1-2 in MVC doubles play.
