Gavin Weyman was announced to the Redbird coaching staff in July 2024 as an Assistant Coach.
Weyman joins the Redbirds from Concord, N.C. where he worked as Director of Pitching with X2 Baseball along with serving as Pitching Coach for the Forest City Owls of the Coastal Plain League since 2023.

Weyman began his coaching career with the Rappoli Baseball Inc./ Garciappara Baseball Group as a Pitching Instructor and Assistant Coach in 2020.
"Gavin will be a great addition to Redbird baseball. He will assist me with the pitchers, bridge the gap with all of the data and analytics. He has an extensive amount of experience in a pitching lab and we want to be able to couple that with our programs' track record of producing elite pitchers," Holm said. "In our time here, we have six pitchers drafted and two have already made it to the MLB. Having Gavin's knowledge on board, we are hoping to take that to the next level."
Weyman earned his degree in economics from Towson University in 2019, spending two seasons as a member of the Towson baseball program.
During his junior season at Towson, Weyman made 19 apperances with six starts as he struck out 46 batters over 54.0 innings. The Bridgewater, Mass. native had three games with five or more strikeouts during the 2018 season. In his final collegiate season, Weyman was Towson's top starter as he led the Tigers in ERA (3.26), wins (four), games started (13), strikeouts (56), and complete games (one).
"I'm excited to join the Illinois State coaching staff. Coach Holm wants to win and his actions reflect that. I'm looking forward to helping an already talented pitching staff build off of the momentum that was created last year," Weyman stated. "I believe that all of the pieces are there for success and I'm excited to get going and get to work with the team. I want to thank Coach Holm and Paul Kabbes for the opportunity."
