Moon was announced as an Assistant Coach on the Redbird staff in June 2024. Moon will primarily serve as the team's hitting coach, assist with recruiting efforts, and be the on-field third base coach for the Redbirds.

He comes to Illinois State after spending the past four years on staff at Saint Louis University. The Billiken offense made massive strides under the direction of Moon, including breaking the school record for runs and RBIs in 2023.

SLU ranked top-50 in NCAA Division I baseball in 2023 in the following categories: runs, runs per game, on-base percentage, sacrifice flies, and stolen bases. SLU would also lead the A-10 in runs, hits, and RBIs during the 2023 campaign.

A former collegiate baseball player himself, Moon began his coaching career at Oklahoma Wesleyan University, spending the 2019-20 season with the Eagles.

In his time at OWU, he helped lead the program to top-10 rankings in home runs per game, total runs, and RBIs as well as had two athletes in the top-15 individually in home runs.

Moon was drafted in the sixth round of the 2014 MLB Draft by the Kansas City Royals out of Missouri Southern State University. Moon would reach as high as the AAA level in his five seasons of professional ball.

Moon earned his degree in health promotion from Missouri Southern State University in 2014. Moon is a native of Blue Springs, Missouri.
