Biography
2016-17/Senior at Illinois State
Averaged a 76.1 over 16 rounds... Tallied one round in the 60s and 12 rounds in the 70s... Produced one top-10 finish... Made his Redbird debut at Colorado State's Ram Masters Invitational (9/20), finishing with a 236 (79-81-76)... Carded a 1-over-par 217 (75-68-74), including a season-low 4-under-par 68 in the second round of Akron's Firestone Invitational (10/4)... Concluded the fall season with a 223 (76-75-72) at Notre Dame's Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic (10/11) and shot a 2-over-par 72 in the final round... Started the spring season by withdrawing after the first two rounds of South Alabama's Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate (2/21), shooting a 160 (76-84-WD)... Returned to action at the I-74 Challenge (3/25) individual tournament with Bradley and finished in a tie for seventh place with a 148 (72-76), after shooting a 1-over-par 72 in the first round... Concluded his collegiate career with a 234 (80-77-77) at Missouri's Tiger Invitational (4/11).
Previous School
Attended Millikin University during his freshman and sophomore years. Set the course and school record at Red Tail Run Golf Course (64) as a freshman. Finished second in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) championship in 2013 and 2014. Qualified for the U.S. Amateur Public Links during his sophomore year.
High School
Placed first overall in the “Big I” Illinois State tournament, earned first place honors at regionals, and placed third in the IHSA State 1A finals as an
individual during his senior year. Played basketball for one year, baseball for two years, and golf for four years.
Personal
Son of Rob and Liz Havens. Born May 8, 1994. Has an older sister, Lauren, and a younger sister, Maddy. His father, mother, and aunt all attended Illinois State as undergraduates. Father Rob Havens is currently the head coach of the women’s track team and also serves as an assistant football coach at Pleasant Plains High School. Majoring in Marketing. Havens chose to attend Illinois State to further his golf career and wanted to be at a bigger school. After college he hopes to have a career in golf either teaching or playing.
