Appeared in all 13 events of the season. Averaged a team best 71.1 per round over 36 rounds during the season. Shot an even par over 13 events. Earned medalist honors after his best performance of the season at the USF Invitational (3/11) after shooting 12 under-par (204/68-69-67). Named MVC Golfer of the Week four times during the season after the USF Invitational, Little Rock Invitational (10/22), Seminole Intercollegiate (2/23) and was one of three Illinois State golfers named after the Boilermaker Invitational (4/13). Leads all-time among former and current Illinois State Golfers in MVC Golfer of the Week honors with 10.
2017-18/Junior at Illinois State
Appeared in all 12 tournaments during the season and shot an average of 73.5 in 36 rounds. Best performance came from the Little Rock Invitational (10/24), where he placed first out of 68 individually. In those three rounds, shot a season-low score of 210 (71-68-71), including one-under-par round in the first and third round and a four-under-par in the second round. Finished the tournament six shots under-par and helped lead the Redbirds to a second place finish overall. Other notable outings include the Firestone Invitational (10/3) where he shot two-under-par in three rounds and finished third individually at the Northern Intercollegiate (9/25) where he shot one-under-par in three rounds. Helped lead Illinois State to a tied fourth place finish at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship (4/24).
2016-17/Sophomore at Illinois State                             Â
Became first Redbird since 1975 to participate in the NCAA Championship (5/28), shooting an even-par 216 (73-72-71), including a 1-under-par 71 in the final round, to finish in a 44th-place tie (out of 156) and just missing the cut by one stoke at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois... Qualified for the NCAA Championship by producing the lowest score from a non-advancing team at the West Lafayette Regional (5/17), where he shot a 1-over-par 217 (68-70-79) to finish in a tie for seventh place (out of 75) while shooting a 4-under-par 68 in the first round and a 2-under-par 70 in the second round, which gave him the overall lead of 6-under-par after 36 holes... Qualified for second-consecutive NCAA Regional by claiming medalist honors for the second year in a row at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship (4/25), as he shot a 2-over-par 218 (70-75-73) to help the Redbirds to a second-place finish... Selected All-MVC for the second-straight season... Tabbed MVC Golfer of the Week three different times... Logged a team-best 38 rounds to average a team-low 72.4... Produced four rounds in the 60s and 34 rounds in the 70s... Recorded two top-five and five top-10 finishes... Fired a career-low 5-under-par 67 in the final round of Florida State's Seminole Intercollegiate (3/12) to finish with a three-round score of 6-under-par 210 (71-72-67) and finish in a 14th-place tie... Carded a 2-over-par 218 (70-76-72) at the season-opening Badger Invitational (9/13), which included a 2-under-par 70 in the opening round, and finished in a tie for 19th place... Shot a 223 (79-77-73) at the Ram Masters Invitational (9/20)... Finished with a 2-over-par 218 (74-72-72) at the Firestone Invitational (10/4)... Fired a 2-under-par 68 in the first and final rounds of the Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic (10/12) and finished in a fourth-place tie with a career-low three-round score of 1-under-par 209 (68-73-68)... Started the spring season at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate (2/21) and finished in ninth-place tie with a 2-under-par 214 (72-71-71)... Shot a 4-over-par 217 (71-71-75) to finish in a tie for 12th place at the Bob Sitton Invitational (3/16)... Finished in a ninth-place tie at the I-74 Challenge (3/25) with a 149 (79-70)... Shot a 5-over-par 218 at the Hoosier Invitational (4/2)... Finished with a 226 (75-77-74) at the Tiger Invitational (4/11).
2015-16/Freshman at Illinois State                             Â
Led the way for the Redbirds with his consistently dominating performances. Earned numerous Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week honors and competed with some of the best players in the nation. Earned medalist honors in the MVC Championship, qualifying him for the NCAA Golf Championship. Wrapped up his Freshman campaign in mid-May at the Kohler Regional Tournament in Wisconsin and earned MVC Newcomer of the Year.Â

Four year varsity starter. Earned all-conference honors, won three 18-hole tournaments, was a state qualifier during his freshman and sophomore year. During his junior year he was named team captain, earned all-conference honors, qualified for state, won sectionals, and had an 18-hole average of 73.1. During his senior year, he was a state qualifier, earned all-conference, won regionals, won four 18-hole tournaments, and earned Illinois Athlete of the Year with an 18-hole average of 71.8.
Personal
Son of Bryon Wallace and Lori Gombosi. Has an older sister, Chloe, and two younger sisters, Gia and Ava. Chose to attend Illinois State because of the campus, practice facility, and its close  proximity to home. Plans to some day own a golf course.
