Hired in 2018, Breanne Hall is in her seventh season leading the Illinois State women's golf team.She has twice been named the Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year (2022 and 2024), and has led the Redbirds to two NCAA appearances.
At Illinois State she has coached two MVC Golfers of the Year, two Scholar-Athletes of the Year, two Elite 17 Award winners, a MVC Newcomer of the Year, 11 All-MVC honorees, and 10 Academic All-MVC honorees. Additionally, Ali Schrock had been named to the College Sports Communicators Acacemic All-America team three times, 2022 (third team), 2023 (second team), and 2024 (first team).
Her squads have re-written the Illinois State record book, as 14 of the top 15 single-round scores in school history have come since her arrival, as well as 15 of the top 16 lowest three-round tournament scores.The five lowest season scoring averages have come in the last five seasons, with individuals carding 16 of the 22 lowest single-round scores in school history during her tenure, and 17 of the 20 lowest tournament scores in school history.
For the 2023-24 season, Hall helped lead the Redbirds to the NCAA Tournament, as the team ran away with the 2024 MVC Tournament championship with the third-lowest MVC tournament score in conference history. She coached MVC Golfer of the Year Jinyoung Yun, MVC Scholar Athlete of the Year Ali Schrock, and All-MVC honorees Ali Schrock, Avalon Woodward, and Yun. During the season Redbirds set school records for lowest single round (Yun, four times with a 67), and lowest tournament score (Yun with a 204).
In 2022-2023, Hall coached Schrock and Woodward to All-MVC honors, as were also named All-MVC Academic squad.
The 2021-22 season saw the Redbirds end a seven-year postseason draught, as the squad took first in the 2022 MVC Championship. Woodward, Schrock, and Kehler Koss all earned All-MVC honors during the championship run, as Ali Schrock earned MVC Golfer of the Year, and Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The 2020-21 championship saw the Redbirds finish third overall, as the tournament finished in a snowstorm. Mario Toledo Bailey and Emma Sutton earned All-MVC honors during that season, while Toledo Bailey was named MVC Newcomer of the Year.
Her 2019-20 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and her 2018-19 squad took ninth at the MVC Championship. Hall coached Becca Black toan All-MVC honor in 2020.
Hall, who replaced Darby Sligh, came to Illinois State after serving as the first head coach of the women’s golf program at Division I UNC Ashville over the previous three years. Her teams won a pair of tournaments in the first two seasons of the program’s existence and her squad posted a nine-stroke improvement in scoring average from year one to year two. In 2018, the Bulldogs improved two spots at the Big South Championship to finish fifth overall and for the second consecutive year, five members of the UNC Asheville women's golf team were named Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-America Scholars.
Prior to beginning her coaching career, Hall served as the Director of Golf Instruction at Mountain Air Country Club in Burnsville, North Carolina, from 2013-16. She also served as the assistant professional at Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa in Asheville, North Carolina, from 2007-08, before taking over as head professional from 2008-12 and eventually club manager for 2012-13. She began her instructional career as an assistant professional from 2005-06 at Manasquan River Golf Club in Brielle, New Jersey.
Hall competed collegiately at Northern Kentucky, before eventually transferring to Toledo where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in organizational management in 2004. While at Toledo, she was a three-time Mid-American Conference (MAC) all-conference performer and was the Michigan Women’s Open champion in 2003. Following her collegiate career, she competed in the Futures Tour Q-School in 2004 and later became a PGA Class A member in 2012.
