Silviu Mistreanu is a first year assistant coach for Illinois State.

 A Youngstown State graduate, he earned his degree in Communication Studies in December 2015. Mistreanu graduated Summa Cum Laude. He spent two seasons as a graduate assistant coach, while working toward his MBA. Mistreanu worked with men's and women's tennis while at Youngstown State. 

Misteanu played for Youngstown State  from 2012-15 winning 57 career singles matches, including 42 in dual matches. He played two seasons under Illinois State's current head coach Mark Klysner. 

He was a two-time first-team All-Horizon League honoree receiving accolades as a freshman and sophomore. He had a personal-high 17 wins as a junior during the 2013-14 campaign, 10 of which came during a strong fall season, while playing in the number one and two spots in the spring. As a senior, he finished his final year with an 8-4 overall mark and was 4-2 in Horizon League play.
