  • Title
    Volunteer Assistant Coach - Diving

Illinois State diving coach Tori Lamp Wood has announced the addition of Mauricio Robles to the Redbird diving staff entering the 2021-22 season. Robles will serve as the diving team's volunteer assistant coach and brings an abundance of knowledge to the pool.

"We are thrilled to welcome Mauricio Robles to our staff," Lamp Wood said. "He brings incredible experience as a diver and as a coach that will bring a wealth of knowledge to our program."

Born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico, Robles began diving at nine years old and brings 14 years of competitive diving experience at the national and international level. Robles competed at Junior Worlds in 2008 where he finished fifth overall on the 1-meter springboard. He went on to dive at the University of Tennessee from 2011 to 2016 where he was a nine-time NCAA Division I All-American and a four-time SEC Champion.

Following his collegiate diving career, Robles was a volunteer assistant coach at his alma mater for the 2016-17 season, helping diver Liam Stone to an SEC Championship title and a new conference record. Robles had previously held the record that Stone broke.

"Helping and inspiring others accomplish their goals is something I'm very passionate about," Robles said. "I'm honored and grateful to be part of the ISU swimming and diving team where I have the opportunity to contribute to the program and add value to others."

Robles graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2016 with a Bachelor's in Business Administration and earned his Master's in Human Resources from UT in 2017.
