Sophomore Year (2020-21)

Competed in four meets for the Redbirds … Finished third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.86 in the season opener against Valpo … Recorded another top-five finish in a dual meet win over UNI in the 50-yard freestyle (25.03) … Posted a pair of season best times in the 50-yard freestyle (24.25) and 100-yard freestyle (54.89) at the MVC Championships.

Freshman Year (2019-20)

Competed in six meets for the Redbirds … Turned in a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (25.16) in the season-opening dual win over Butler, while posting a season-best time of 24.45 in the event at the Valley Championships … Recorded a season-best time at the Valley Championships in the 100-yard freestyle (54.45).

Background: Four-year member of St. Joseph Academy’s swim team … Four-time all-conference and all-state performer … Helped her 200-freestyle relay team break the state record her junior season … Finished in the top-10 at the state meet in the 50 free and 100 breast events her junior year, while helping her team finish third.

Personal: Daughter of Lawrence and Mary Hernandez … Born April 26 in St. Louis, Missouri … Has two older brothers, Lawrence Jr. and Lucas … Comes from an athletic family, as her father, Lawrence, played baseball at Northern Illinois, and she has several cousins who played sports in college … Plans to major in exercise science while attending ISU.
