Andrew Benning

Andrew Benning joined the Illinois State athletic training staff in August of 2014 as the assistant athletic trainer covering Baseball.

Prior to coming to ISU, Benning worked in professional baseball. After beginning with the Chicago Cubs organization, Benning spent five years with the San Francisco Giants organization. He was named PBATS Athletic Trainer of the Year in 2012 for the Northwest League.

Benning earned his master’s in athletic training from the University of Northern Iowa, where he worked with football, track & field, wrestling and tennis.  While at UNI, Benning served as the head athletic trainer for the Waterloo Bucks baseball team.

Benning earned his bachelor’s in athletic training from Illinois State, where he worked with several athletic teams as a student.  He also served as a student representative to the Illinois Athletic Trainers Association.

Benning and his wife, Keri, currently reside in Peoria, Illinois.
