Sarah Wright

Sarah Wright joined Illinois State staff in July 2023, serving as Director of Sports Nutrition. Sarah oversees the nutrition program for all 17 sports, which provides and coordinates performance nutrition fueling, as well as nutrition education and counseling services to all Illinois State University student-athletes.

Prior to coming to ISU, Sarah worked at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, IL where she served as an inpatient clinical Dietitian. Prior to Jacksonville, Sarah worked for McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, IL where she practiced in the inpatient, outpatient, and community spaces. She was able to adapt her nutrition education in the individual setting, along with numerous populations of the community. Throughout the last 6 years Sarah has coached high school and club girl’s soccer in Macomb and Springfield areas.

Wright earned her Master’s of Science in Nutrition from Eastern Illinois University where she also worked as the Graduate Assistant Coach for the EIU Women’s Soccer team in 2015-2016. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from Western Illinois University while also playing for the WIU Women’s Soccer team, serving as Captain her senior year. 

Sarah is a Registered Dietitian, a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics, a Nutrition Education Specialist, and Informed RED-S Provider. She is an active member of ASPDA and the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics. She serves as Treasurer of the Capital Area Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Wright was born and raised in Springfield, Illinois, and currently resides in Normal, Illinois.
