Scott Renfro joined the Illinois State athletics department staff as Assistant Athletics Director of Compliance and Student Services in May of 2013 and was promoted to the role of Sr. Associate Athletic Director /Compliance & Student Services in Janauary 2024.  He serves as the sport administrator for the men’s and women’s tennis programs.

In his current role, Renfro serves as the primary compliance contact for the football, men’s basketball, and volleyball programs.  He has primary oversight of many of the day-to-day operations of the Compliance Office, including issuing athletic aid agreements to incoming students, notification of transfer process, NCAA waiver requests, international eligibility, and playing and practice seasons. Renfro served as a member of the NCAA Eligibility Center Advisory Committee from 2019 through 2021.. 

Prior to coming to Illinois State, Renfro spent four years as the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance at Northern Arizona University.  While at NAU he served as the institution’s senior compliance official, directing all the department’s compliance efforts.  He got his start in compliance as a graduate assistant at Miami University (Ohio).

Renfro completed a master’s degree in Sport Administration from Miami.  He also holds an MBA from Illinois State University.

A native of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Renfro currently resides in Normal, Illinois.
