REDBIRD TRACK & FIELD ADD TWO MORE SIGNEES

Andrew Jury, a native of Rockford, Ill., and Todd Quednau, from Westmont, Ill., have signed national letters of intent to continue their education and track and field careers at Illinois State. Jury is an explosive high jumper that has cleared six feet, 10 inches. He sports a 6-foot-4 frame and attends Rockford Harlem High School. Head coach John Coughlan sees Jury clearing seven feet by the end of his freshman season. "He is very impressive," Coughlan said. "I think that Andrew can have a terrific collegiate career. When I watched him I thought he had great potential, and Andrew will have the opportunity to join a long line of successful Illinois State high jumpers." Quednau will graduate from Downers Grove North and is an all-state cross country runner. He placed 11th in the 1999 IHSA Cross Country Championships and has posted a lifetime best of four minutes, 19 seconds in the 1,600. Coughlan expects Quednau to add depth to the Redbird cross country team, as well as the middle distances. "Todd will be a great addition to the Illinois State cross country program," Coughlan said. "On the track, he has the ability to score at the conference meet in the mile." Jury and Quednau join Harry Lattimore and Heidi Quast as members of the 2000 Illinois State recruiting class.
