The Illinois State mens and womens track and field team will host its second meet of the 2001 campaign, Saturday, when the Redbirds host the Illinois State Invitational.
Featured in the meet will be Eastern Illinois, Western Illinois, Murray State, Concordia University, Austin Peay and McKendree College. Several school will bring split squads as Iowa and Illinois bring their mens team and Wisconsin-Parkside, Northern Illinois and Chicago State compete in the womens division.
The Redbirds will be competing as a full squad for the first time since the semester break.
Were going to load up the events, head coach
Jeff Pigg said. We need to see good performances this weekend. Everyone was a little down after the Illinois meet, but weve had a good week of training. Were moving forward as a team now.
Field events start at 9:30 a.m. while running events begin at 10:30 a.m. at Horton Field House.
Competing at home is always exciting, Pigg said. Its fun to have the opportunity to compete in front of family and friends.
